TIB names Banasree Pal, Faruque Ahmed as board members

Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has appointed two new members to its Board of Trustees for a three-year term.

They are – Banasree Pal, a human rights activist and social worker from Lakshmipur, and Faruque Ahmed, former executive director of BRAC International.

Meanwhile, the two have attended TIB’s 121st board meeting held on 26 September, says a press release.

Banasree Pal is a life member of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, and executive member of the Jatiyo Mohila Sangstha under the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs; both for Lakshmipur district units.

In addition, he served as the private prison inspector of Lakshmipur, and as an executive member of Lakshmipur Shilpakala Academy. Also, he is associated with various social welfare organisations, and the Zilla Krira Sangstha.

Faruque Ahmed is currently serving at the Social Marketing Company (SMC) Enterprise Ltd as an executive council member, and at RDRS Bangladesh and Phulki as chairperson of the Board of Trustees for both NGOs.

Additionally, he also served as a board member of Geneva-based GAVI, The Vaccine Alliance, and held various positions in the World Bank’s Dhaka office and on WHO committees.

The Board of Trustees is the highest policymaking body of the TIB. 

Currently, eminent human rights activist Advocate Sultana Kamal is the chairperson of the board.
