The young entrepreneur who brought orange farming to Naogaon

Shafiqul Islam Rana, a younger entrepreneur from Naogaon’s Mohadevpur, has finished unparalleled success in farming oranges commercially.

His immaculately maintained orchard in Ishwar Laksmipur village has drawn attention for its high quality, sweet, and visually appealing oranges.

5 years ago, Rana planted Forty five orange tree seedlings on his ten katha (about 1/3 of an acre) of land. The seedlings sourced from Chuadanga were planted at a cost of Tk20,000, retaining charges for the seedlings, land preparation, and maintenance.

Whereas the trees bore shrimp fruit of their first One year, they’ve yielded a bountiful harvest this season. The trees were producing fruit since the tip of July, and the exact time to harvest is in November, approximately four months after budding.

Currently, each and each tree produces on the least 20 kilograms of oranges, meaning that round 900 kilograms of oranges will seemingly be harvested from the Forty five trees.

These oranges are already being equipped in local markets at Tk 200 per kilogram, with some customers even purchasing straight some distance from the backyard. The entire earnings from this One year’s harvest is anticipated to achieve Tk 180,000.

Shafiqul’s success has impressed varied local entrepreneurs to build in mind orange cultivation. Abul Kalam Azad, deputy director of the Naogaon Division of Agricultural Extension, highlighted the build’s doable for orange cultivation, noting that the soil of Mahadevpur, section of the Barendra build, is great for growing oranges.

He said orange farming involves minimal charges and is extremely winning, with trees requiring most real looking same old care.

“If anybody comes forward to domesticate oranges, the Agriculture Division will provide him with every kind of recommendation and wait on,” he added.
