Suspected smuggler dies in Narayanganj after being held for questioning

A particular person, who was suspected of smuggling treatment, died when he was held by officials of the Division of Narcotics Controls (DNC) for questioning in Narayanganj recently (8 September).

The deceased, Syedul Karim, 50, hailed from Cox’s Bazar district.

Zainal Abedin, inspector of Narayanganj Division of Narcotics Controls, acknowledged Syedul Karim was held after a search on a passenger bus on a tip-off.

“Whereas we had been interrogating him, he fell unwell. He was taken to the clinical institution where the doctor on-responsibility declared him stupid,” he acknowledged.

There are four cases filed against him in Cumilla and Cox’s Bazar, the inspector acknowledged.
