Supreme Court lawyers today (26 November) staged a demonstration demanding a ban on ISKCON after a lawyer was killed during protests in Chattogram after former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari was sent to jail.
The protest march started from the Supreme Court premises, proceeded to Mazar Gate, circled the Kadam Foara, and returned to the Supreme Court via the Bar Council gate, concluding with a rally.
During the protest, the lawyers chanted slogans such as “Destroy ISKCON’s headquarters”, “It will be flooded with blood”, “Beware of Russian-Indian agents”, ISKCON headquarters will not be allowed in Bangladesh”, “ISKCON must be banned” etc.
Meanwhile, the Nationalist Lawyers’ Forum’s central committee has announced a protest program tomorrow at 1pm to protest the killing of the lawyer.
Earlier in the day, a lawyer was killed during protests outside the Chattogram court premises when a group of people believed to be supporters of former ISKCON Bangladesh leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari blocked the prison van carrying him to jail.
The deceased, identified as Saiful Islam Alif, an advocate, was rescued from an alley next to the Kotwali’s Rangam Convention Hall at around 3:30pm.
He was then taken to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
