Salam Murshedy placed on 2-day remand in RMG worker murder case

A Dhaka court today (2 October) placed former Khulna-4 lawmaker Abdus Salam Murshedy on two-day remand in a case filed over the killing of ready-made garment (RMG) worker Rubel during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Akteruzzaman passed the order as police produced Murshedy, also the former senior vice-president of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), before the court and pleaded to place him on 10-day remand.

Yesterday, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Abdus Salam Murshedy from the city’s Bashundhara residential area.

According to the case statement, RMG worker Rubel joined student movement in Adabor Ring Road area on 5 August. He got shot on his chest and abdomen on that day and succumbed to his injuries two days later.

Rubel’s father Rafikul Islam filed the case on 22 August against 156 people, including Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader and Sakib Al Hasan.
