Poet Helal Hafiz dies at 76

Great poet Helal Hafiz handed away this afternoon (13 December) in Dhaka on the age of 76.

“The poet used to be brought slow at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Clinical College (BSMMU) health heart around 2:30pm,” the health heart’s Director Brigadier Regular Nazrul Islam Khan commended The Industrial Regular.

“His physique is at display at BSMMU. Since no household participants were display with him, I educated Shahbagh Police Station. The police are the truth is checking if there are any excellent concerns,” he added.

Born on 7 October 1948, in Netrokona, Helal Hafiz chanced on his passion for poetry all the design through his early life. He pursued bigger training on the College of Dhaka, where his poetic converse matured, and he started crafting verses that spoke to the soul of a nation.

Helal Hafiz used to be a towering figure in Bengali literature, revered for his poignant poetry that captured the essence of social justice, human suffering, and political defiance.

His debut collection, “Je Jole Agun Jwale” (The Water The keep Fire Is Ignited), published in 1986, became a bestseller and cemented his space as one of many most influential poets of his time.

His 2nd collection, ‘Kobita 71’, used to be, therefore, published 26 years later in 2012.

Hafiz impressed generations with works equivalent to Nishiddha Sampadakiya (The Banned Editorial), a poem that continues to resonate with revolutionaries and early life. His literary achievements were recognised with the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 2014.
