No room for destroying unity among Bangladeshis: Ganatantrik Odhikar Committee

Attempts are being made to divide the people of Bangladesh, the Ganatantrik Odhikar Committee alleged, stating that such activities would hinder the country’s progress.

Committee member Anu Muhammad, also an economist, emphasised the unity of people from all religions, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds is essential to counter domestic and international conspiracies, as per a press release today (28 November).

Anu Muhammad stated no opportunity can’t be given to destroy unity among people.

The committee has called for a fair trial over the killing of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif in Chattogram.

On 25 October, Chinmoy was accused in a sedition case for allegedly disrespecting Bangladesh’s national flag by hoisting a saffron flag above it at a rally organised by the Bangladesh Sanatan Jagaran Mancha in Chattogram.

In this regard, the committee said this incident has created an unnecessarily tense situation.

It has praised the people of Bangladesh for their unity in the face of recent divisive attempts and urged them to remain vigilant against any efforts to undermine the country’s harmony.

The Ganatantrik Odhikar Committee, formed on 22 August following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina led Awami League government, comprises individuals from various professions, including academics, students, writers, journalists, artists, lawyers, and doctors.
