Money stolen from banks in one case amounts to 105 times of average Bangladeshi’s lifetime income: White Paper

The amount of cash stolen from banks, through every case of embezzlement, by “wide players” is virtually 105 instances the estimated lifetime earnings of the typical Bangladeshi, in response to the ultimate draft of the White Paper on Tell of the Bangladesh Financial system.

The narrative, which used to be submitted to the executive adviser this day (1 December), mentioned embezzlement of wide chunks of cash from varied banks by a set of groups through incorrect companies or without ideal documentation changed into a privilege of expansive borrowers.

The Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) documented 24 cases of malfeasance inviting forgery, embezzlement, fraud, theft, money laundering, misappropriations and irregularities from compilations of printed experiences for the period of 2008-23, it mentioned.

The perpetrators encompass the Hallmark Crew, Bismillah Crew, AnnonTex, Regent Sanatorium, NRB Global Financial institution and so forth, all wide players, mentioned the White Paper.

“The overall 24 cases collectively added up to Tk 922.6 billion or Tk 3.86 billion or $32 million per case. Practical per capita earnings in Bangladesh is about $2600. If the typical person earns this earnings for 50 years with an annual development of 10 per cent, she makes $0.31 million in her lifetime.

“The stolen quantity per case is virtually 105 instances this estimate of the lifetime earnings of the typical Bangladeshi,” read the narrative.
