Mob lynching at DU: 6 students, including ex-BCL leader, arrested

Police hang arrested six students, in conjunction with a dilapidated Chhatra League leader, in reference to the lynching of Tofazzal Hossain on suspicion of theft at the Fazlul Haque Hall of Dhaka College.

“The police are persevering with their efforts to apprehend the final suspects. We can examine the incident thoroughly to hiss the truth,” Muhammad Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (DC) (media and publication) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) urged the media at a press convention at Minto Road lately (19 September).

The Detective Division (DB) will be working to arrest the others accused, he said.

The arrestees are Md Jalal Mia, 25, dilapidated Chhatra League leader of Fazlul Huq hall unit and a pupil of the Physics Division, Suman Mia, 21 of the Soil, Water and Atmosphere Division, Mottakin Sakin of the Institute of Vitamin and Meals Science, Al Hossain Sazzad of Geography, Wazibul Alam and Ahsan Ullah.

The police legit extra said the body of the deceased has been handed over to the family after an post-mortem.

When asked about who committed the crime and the conditions, he said, “At the origin, we realized that the young man used to be taken to the guest room of Fazlul Haq Hall and overwhelmed on suspicion of theft.

“Later, the young man used to be declared unnecessary around 12:45am at Dhaka Scientific Faculty Sanatorium.”

In conserving with a demand about whether or not the arrestees are linked to any political affiliations, the DC said, “The topic is below investigation.”

Earlier lately, the DU administration filed a murder case with the Shahbagh Police Feature over the death of Tofazzal Hossain.

Mohammad Amanullah, a supervisor at the university’s property arena of enterprise, filed the case against unidentified accused as plaintiff.
