Bodies of two madrasa students, who had gone missing at the Bay of Bengal in Cox’s bazar’s Teknaf upazila, have been found after 15 hours.
The death toll has now risen to three as another madrasa student had drowned at the sea earlier in the same incident.
The bodies were recovered from the sea at Lengurbil Lambarighat point under sadar union in Teknaf around 5:30am today (25 November), said Officer In-Charge of Teknaf police station Mohammad Gias Uddin.
The deceased have been identified as Nazrul Islam, 12, son of Md Nojir Ahmed from Khunkarpara under Sadar union and Imran Hossain alias Babul, 13, son of Korban Ali from the same area.
The body of Nur Kamal, another madrasa student who had drowned at sea, was recovered right after the incident yesterday.
All three of them are students of Ashrafiya Darul Nazat Hifzkhana at Khunkarpara under Sadar union.
Quoting relatives of the deceased, OC Gias said although the rescue mission was conducted throughout the day, the missing students could not be found anywhere.
“On Monday morning, the relatives of the missing students saw their bodies floating at sea at Lambarighat point. They informed police after recovering the bodies,” OC Gias added.
OC Gias further said the bodies of the students have been handed over to their families.
