Kylian Mbappe’s representatives have rejected a mediation offer from the French football league (LFP) to resolve the ongoing dispute between the star striker and his former club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), over unpaid wages and bonuses.
The LFP had proposed to act as a mediator between the two parties after Mbappe referred his case to the league’s legal committee. However, Mbappe’s entourage argued that mediation would be “useless” as the player’s claim for unpaid wages is evident from his payslip.
Mbappe, who joined Real Madrid this summer, claims PSG owes him 55 million euros ($60.6 million), which the Parisians say the 25-year-old had agreed to waive in August 2023. The disputed amount includes a signing bonus, three months of salary, and an “ethical bonus.”
PSG, on the other hand, maintains that Mbappe has made “clear repeated public and private commitments” that must be respected and has been afforded “unprecedented benefits” during his seven-year tenure at the club.
The LFP’s proposal for mediation was welcomed by PSG, who expressed hope that it would help resolve the dispute. However, Mbappe’s entourage has made it clear that they are not interested in mediation and are determined to pursue legal action to recover the unpaid wages.
