Madrasa Called ‘Jamia Shahid Abu Sayed’ To Be Established To Honor Martyr Abu Sayed

Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh’s Secretary General, Shaykh Sajidur Rahman, has announced the establishment of a madrasa named “Jamia Shaheed Abu Sayed” in memory of Abu Sayed, who was killed during recent anti-discrimination protests. The madrasa will be built beside Abu Sayed’s grave in his hometown of Pirganj, Rangpur.

Speaking at a divisional rally in Rangpur on Saturday (September 14), Sajidur Rahman emphasized the key role of Islamic scholars in the fight against oppressive regimes and vowed that future student movements will not tolerate tyranny. He called for constitutional changes to restore faith in Almighty Allah and urged the removal of anti-Islamic content from the national curriculum before the next academic year.

Several senior Hefazat leaders, including Maulana Mamunul Haque, also addressed the rally, demanding justice for victims of past movements, such as the 2013 Shapla Square crackdown and the 2021 anti-Modi protests.
