KM Asad’s photograph of 5 August featured in TIME’s top 100 photos of 2024

Bangladeshi photojournalist KM Asad’s photograph taken on 5 August at Ganabhabon has been selected for TIME magazine’s Top 100 Photos of 2024.

The image captured protesters of the student-led uprising storming Ganabhaban holding Bangladesh’s national flag after former prime minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country.

Asad shared the news on social media and said, “Grateful to have my photograph featured in TIME’s Top 100 Photos of 2024. As an independent photographer, it’s truly pleasing to see my work recognized on such a global platform.”

Every year the TIME photo department sits down to curate the strongest images that crossed their path over the previous 12 months.
