Turkey on Monday denounced an Israeli belief to double the inhabitants living in the occupied and annexed Golan Heights as a train to “develop its borders”.
“This resolution is a brand fresh stage in Israel’s goal of expanding its borders by occupation,” the international ministry acknowledged in a commentary condemning the switch.
Israel’s govt on Sunday licensed a belief to double the inhabitants of the annexed Golan Heights, upright days after its troops seized a UN-monitored buffer zone bordering Syria as revolt forces moved on Damascus.
“This step by Israel is a source of grave distress, taken along with Israel’s entry into the home of separation in violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, its come into adjoining areas and airstrikes in Syria,” it acknowledged, warning the switch would “seriously undermine” efforts to bring steadiness to Syria after Bashar al-Assad’s ouster.
The Golan Heights is a mountainous plateau at Syria’s southwestern edge, most of which used to be captured by Israel all by the 1967 Six-Day Battle and later annexed.
It is a long way separated from the Syrian aspect by the UN-patrolled buffer zone.
Israeli International Minister Gideon Saar acknowledged the switch used to be a “shrimp and quick-timeframe step” for “security reasons”.
