ICT probe body to quiz ex-Jatrabari OC on 15 Dec

International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)’s investigation agency will interrogate former officer-in-charge of Jatrabari Police Station Abul Hasan on 15 December in a case lodged over the brutal killing of college student Imam Hasan Taim during student-led July-August mass uprising.

The three-member tribunal led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed an order in this regard, allowing a plea of the prosecution, prosecutor BM Sultan Mahmud told BSS. 

The tribunal also set 15 January for submitting the probe report in the case.

The ICT on 4 December showed Abul Hasan arrested in the case lodged over the brutal killing of Imam Hasan Taim.

“The tribunal showed him arrested in ICT-BD miscellaneous case 05/2024. He is the first accused, who has been showed arrested in two cases filed with the tribunal,” Prosecutor Abdullah Al Noman told BSS on that day.

Taim, a second-year student at Adamji Nagar Government College in Narayanganj, was shot in a point-blank range on 20 July near the Kajla foot-over bridge. 

Policemen took Taim, who was still alive, to Jatrabari Police Station and confirmed his death by torturing and disfiguring his face there, prosecution sources said.

Earlier on 20 November the ICT showed Abul along with seven other former security officials arrested in a case lodged over murder, genocide, and crimes against humanity committed during the July-August mass uprising.

The other seven arrestees are- former director general(DG) of NTMC sacked Maj Gen Ziaul Ahsan, former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, former additional superintendent of police (ASP) Abdullahel Kafi, former deputy commissioner (DC) Mirpur Zone Md Jasim Uddin Mollah, former Additional Superintendant of Police (ASP) Md Shahidur Islam, former officer-in-charge of Gulshan Police Station Mazharul Islam and former detective branch (DB) of police inspector Arafat Hossain.

The tribunal on that day set 19 December for submitting the probe report in the case.
