Customs authorities at the Osmani Worldwide Airport in Sylhet seized over 1kg of gold embellishes from a flight this morning (6 December), marking the 2d such incident in two days.
The gold jewellery, weighing 1.167 kg, modified into chanced on wrapped in dim plastic and abandoned below seat 26C on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-248, which arrived from Dubai at 9:25am, mentioned Md Sohanur Rahman, assistant commissioner of the airport’s Air Freight Division.
“The recovered embellishes encompass 18 bangles and three chains, with an estimated market designate of Tk1.3 crore,” he added.
The smugglers likely abandoned the gold upon noticing the presence of customs officials, Sohanur mentioned. “We are but to name the of us all for this smuggling strive.”
A case could be filed over the seizure of the gold, he added.
This seizure came true two days after 11 pieces of gold bars, weighing 1.283 kg, were seized from one other Biman flight at Osmani Worldwide Airport.
