Law enforcers today (23 September) arrested Moin Uddin Shipon, former officer-in-charge (OC) of Sylhet Kotwali Model Police Station, in connection with a case filed over the killing of journalist ATM Turab during student-led mass protests in Sylhet on 19 July.
A task force of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested him in a raid at Gopinathpur village of Madhabpur upazila in Habiganj, Upazila Nirbahi Officer AKM Faisal confirmed The Business Standard.
Moin is also accused in several other cases related to violence during the student movement, he added.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam said after 5 August, Moin was made an officer on special duty (OSD) and transferred from Sylhet Kotwali Police Station to Rajshahi Range DIG office.
