Floods cause loss of Tk2,327cr in fisheries, livestock sector: Adviser Farida

Country’s fisheries and cattle sector used to be badly tormented by the floods in August because the accrued lack of the sector stood at Tk2,327 crore.

In cattle sector, the estimated accrued loss used to be Taka 428 crore the place 2.60 lakh cattle heads, 8,000 buffaloes, 93,000 goats, 10,000 sheep, 34.21 lakh poultry, and 4.60 lakh ducks possess died in the floods.

Even the Ministry of Catastrophe Administration and Reduction has disbursed Taka 35 lakh among the farmers of the flood affected areas for getting animal feed. The FAO has taken a programme to present 75kg of cattle feed to each of 8,233 cramped farmers.

The authorities has furthermore disbursed fish fries among the fisheries farmers at more cost effective rates from the authorities fish manufacturing hatcheries.

Below the programme, a total of 51 tonnes of fish fries at a price of over Tk2 crore were released in the ponds of 8,488 beneficiary fish farmers at 88 upazilas below 12 districts.

The stutter-owned Krishi Bank and other non-authorities micro-credit distribution companies were requested to distribute credits among the affected fish farmers below straightforward phrases and circumstances.
