Ex-IGP Mamun placed on 4-day remand in murder case

A Dhaka court today (24 September) put former IGP Abdullah-Al-Mamun on a four-day remand in a case filed over the killing of Mohammad Ismamul Haque in the city’s Chankharpul area on 5 August.

Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Saifuzzaman passed the order as the investigation officer prayed for a 10-day remand for proper investigation.

Ismamul was killed while he was taking part in a protest on August 5 during the anti-discrimination movement.

On 25 August, his brother Mohammad Mohibul Haque filed a case with Shahbagh Police Station against a number of people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

Detectives of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Mamun from Uttara in the city on 3 September.

He was put on remand multiple times in connection with several cases since his arrest.
