Ex-home minister Mohiuddin, wife’s bank accounts frozen

The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has ordered banks to freeze all accounts of former home minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, his wife Sitara Alamgir and son Joy Alamgir.

The BFIU issued a letter to the banks recently, instructing them to freeze any accounts in the name of these three persons as per the Prevention of Money Laundering Act-2012 for 30 days.

At the same time, banks have also been asked to submit information on the accounts of any companies related to the said individuals.

Mohiuddin was also the chairman of the erstwhile Farmers Bank (now the Padma Bank).
