Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzad Ali today visited those injured in the Anti-discrimination Student Movement under treatment at National Orthopaedic Hospital and Rehabilitation Institute (NITOR).
During the visit, the DMP Commissioner spoke to the injured and inquired about their health and treatment.
Some of the injured requested the police to work as friends of the people.
Sazzad said the police are not enemies of the students and the public.
In the past, he said vested quarters and some ambitious police officers caused conflicts
The police are now working to fulfill the expectations of the students and the public with commitment, he added.
DMP Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Md. Israel Hawlader, Additional Police Commissioner (Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime) Md. Masud Karim, Director of the NITOR Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kenan, along with hospital doctors and DMP officials of various ranks were present.
