Constitutional reform: BNP proposes new posts of deputy prime minister, vice president

The Bangladesh Nationalist Event (BNP) has proposed amendments in 62 areas of the constitution, together with establishing roles for a deputy high minister and vp.

The proposals moreover consist of introducing the provision to restrict the tenure of a high minister to now not bigger than two phrases in a row, establishing a 2nd chamber within the parliament, and introducing provisions for referendums, BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed urged media on the parliament this morning (26 November).

Earlier on the day, a BNP delegation visited the Parliament constructing and met Dr Ali Riaz, head of the reform commission, to submit their proposals for constitutional reform.

Briefing the media afterwards, Salahuddin acknowledged BNP’s proposals emphasise the belief that of a “steadiness of energy.”
