The Embassy of China in Dhaka, in partnership with the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB) and the Bangladesh National Museum, hosted the China-Bangladesh Tourism Promotion Conference on Tuesday (10 December) to strengthen tourism and cultural exchanges between the two nations.
Li Shaopeng, the cultural counsellor of the Chinese Embassy, attended the event, with Abu Tahir Muhammad Zaber, CEO of the Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB), serving as the chief guest.
Fatema Rahim Veena, additional secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, and Ireen Farzana, joint secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, joined the conference as special guests.
Key discussions at the conference centred around the growing business opportunities in inbound and outbound tourism between China and Bangladesh.
ATAB President Abdus Salam Aref emphasised the importance of strengthening tourism ties and encouraged Chinese government officials and business investors to explore opportunities in Bangladesh’s tourism sector.
Li Shaopeng expressed his support for enhancing tourism relations and welcomed Bangladeshi tourists to China, noting the potential for further cultural exchange and collaboration.
Fatema Rahim Veena highlighted the interest in China’s development investments in Bangladesh’s tourism industry.
Abu Tahir Muhammad Zaber reiterated his commitment to fostering tourism exchange between the two countries.
The event featured cultural performances, a tourism photo exhibition, and a video presentation by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, showcasing the beauty of Bangladesh as a prime tourist destination.
ATAB, the leading association representing 4000 travel agents in Bangladesh, has long been at the forefront of advancing the country’s travel and tourism sector.
The conference marked a significant step towards fostering closer ties and cooperation between China and Bangladesh in the tourism and cultural sectors.
