The Bangladesh Bank has appointed its executive directors Md Zakir Hossain Chowdhury and Md Kabir Ahmed as deputy governors.
A notification issued by the finance ministry’s Monetary Institutions Division confirmed the appointments this day (8 September).
The notification signed by Deputy Secretary Afzana Bilkis acknowledged that they’d been appointed on a contractual foundation for 3 years from the date of becoming a member of.
After the mass uprising on 5 August, two deputy governors of the central bank, Kazi Saidur Rahman and Khurshid Alam, stepped down.
In response, the manager formed a search committee on 12 August, led by frail comptroller and auditor long-established Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, to have the vacant positions.
