Bank accounts of 18 journalists, including Quddus Afrad, Prabhas Amin, frozen

The Bangladesh Monetary Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has ordered to freeze the monetary institution accounts of 18 journalists, including Dhaka Journalists Union (DUJ) President Quddus Afrad and ATN Info Chief Info Editor Nurul Amin Prabhas.

A letter despatched by the BFIU the day past directed to freeze their monetary institution accounts and accounts they abet below non-public organisations for the next thirty days.

The record also comprises vulnerable managing director of Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust Subhash Chandra Badal, Mobashwira Farzana Mithila of Ekattor TV, govt editor of Dainik Janakantha Swadesh Roy, vulnerable managing director of Somoy TV Ahmed Jobayer, Dhaka Bangla Media and Communique Director Salauddin Chowdhury, and Journalist Farah Ahsan.

Dhaka Tribune journalist Zulfikar Ali Manik, Journalist Masuda Bhatti, vulnerable Deputy Press Secretary to ex-premier Ashraful Alam Khokan, Editor of Each day Observer Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury and his daughter Sabrina Mahjabin, DBC Info Chairman Shahidul Ahsan, Dhaka Bangla Media and Communique Director Rahnuma Ahsan and her husband Mahbuba Helen, Mohammad Manjurul Islam and Mohammad Shafiqul Ahsan of the the same organisation were also on the record.
