Bangladesh Armed Forces attend Bilateral Defence Dialogue in Hawaii

The Armed Forces of Bangladesh recently participated in the 11th Bilateral Defence Dialogue with the US Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM), held in Honolulu, Hawaii, from 10-12 December 2024.

The delegation, led by Brig Gen Md Alimul Amin, director general of the Operations and Plan Directorate of Bangladesh’s Armed Forces Division, engaged in discussions on bilateral and multilateral exercises, capability development, military education, and exchanges. UK Royal Navy Commodore Jonathan Lett, policy deputy for USINDOPACOM’s strategic planning and policy directorate, also participated in the dialogue.

During the visit, the Bangladeshi delegation toured the Hawaii Emergency Operations Center and the US Coast Guard Base Honolulu at Sand Island. These visits aimed to enhance defence and security cooperation and foster a mutual understanding of crisis response, peacekeeping operations, disaster relief, and humanitarian assistance between the two nations.

The US and Bangladesh have a long-standing defence relationship based on cooperation and mutual respect, with this latest dialogue further strengthening their partnership.
