At least one killed as two Russian tankers wrecked in Black Sea

Russia mounted a rescue effort Sunday after two oil tankers had been wrecked in tough seas off Moscow-annexed Crimea and one broke apart, killing on the least one sailor and inflicting an oil spill.

The tankers, transporting thousands of tonnes of gas oil, had been every damaged in a storm within the Kerch Strait between Crimea and southern Russia’s Krasnodar direct, Russian recordsdata companies reported.

“Today time because a storm within the Murky Sea waters, two tankers, the Volgoneft-212 and the Volgoneft-239 had been wrecked. On board the ships are crews of 15 and 14. Attributable to the accident there became an oil spill,” acknowledged federal shipping company Rosmorrechflot.

Experiences on crew numbers various with the emergency eventualities ministry placing them at 13 and 14.

Dramatic videos posted online confirmed the stern of the  Volgoneft-212 ship broken off and floating vertically within the water. Interfax reported that about a of the crew contributors had been within the water.

The emergency eventualities ministry later acknowledged that 13 sailors had been evacuated from the predominant ship, but “sadly one of them had died”.

“Two tug boats and two helicopters had been sent to the tankers. The evacuation is proceeding,” the federal shipping company acknowledged, in conjunction with that “measures are being taken to safe rid of the oil spill”.
