APBn detains miscreant with arms from Rohingya refugee camp

Armed Police Battalion has detained a miscreant with a locally made weapon and bullets from a Rohingya refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhia upazila.

APBn conducted the drive at Kutupalong Transit Camp adjacent area early today (29 September), said Additional Deputy Inspector General of APBn-8 Md Amir Jafar.

The detainee has been identified as Mohammad Hussain, 25, son of Sultan Ahmed from Nayapara Mochoni Rohingya Camp No-26 in Teknaf upzaila.

“Locals started to scream when they saw two outsiders strolling through the area adjacent to Kutupalong Transit Camp’s barbed wire on early Sunday. The miscreants fired empty bullets when the locals moved towards them,” Amir said.

“Upon receiving the information, APBn members reached the spot and chased the miscreants. Although APBn members have been able to detain one of them, another was able to flee,” Amir added.

Amir also said that they have found one locally made weapon and two bullets after searching the body of the detainee.

“The detainee is a noted criminal. He has various cases against vhim on charges of murder and possessing weapons. A new case has been filed against him with Ukhia Police Station,” Amir said.
