AL’s Abul Hasanat Abdullah among 14 sued in murder case in Barishal

A murder case was filed against Abul Hasanat Abdullah, president of Barishal district unit of Awami League and a cousin of Sheikh Hasina, along with 13 others with a Barishal court yesterday (8 October).

The other accused included former deputy inspector general (DIG) of Barishal Police Humayun Kabir, Additional DIG Akram Hossain, Superintendent of Police Jahangir Mallik, and Assistant Superintendent of Police Ehsanullah, among others.

Moreover, 30 to 40 unnamed individuals were implicated in the case.

Ashikur Rahman Asif, son of the alleged victim Kabir Hossain Roni from Nagar Kathi village in Agailjhara upazila, filed the case with the court of Barishal Judicial Magistrate Mokhlesur Rahman.

Taking the allegation into cognisance, the court ordered the Officer-in-Charge of the concerned police station to take it as First Information Report (FIR).

According to the case statement, Kabir Hossain Roni was arrested in Dhaka and killed in crossfire on 21 February 2015.

Demanding justice, Asif said his father was involved in BNP politics, and that was his crime. Abul Hasanat Abdullah and the law enforcement agencies killed him in crossfire at that time.
