Police on Sunday midnight arrested an Awami League leader from the city’s Shah Ali Thana area in connection with Muttkim Billah murder by firing indiscriminate gunshots at the anti-discrimination student movement.
The arrestee is Md Alamgir Hossain, a member of ward no-8 Awami League.
On a tip-off, Mirpur Model Thana Police apprehended Alamgir from Priyanka Housing area under Shah Ali Thana today (7 October) midnight, said a press release of police.
He is accused in Muttakim Billah murder case filed with Mirpur Model Police Station on 5 October.
The case details said that leaders and activists of the Awami League and its associate bodies opened fired at the student-people movement in Mirpur-10 area on 19 July afternoon.
Muttakim suffered critical bullet wounds in the firings and he was first taken to Ibne Sina Hospital at Kallayanpur from where he was shifted to Global Specialised Hospital at Mazar Road where he died during his treatment.
