Kamal Ahmed, the president of Sylhet’s Jaintiapur upazila Awami League (AL) and his younger brother Sadek Ahmed were arrested by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) while attempting to wing to India through the Jaintiapur border in Sylhet.
They were detained round 8:30pm final night (7 September) from the Goabari border standing of the upazila and later handed over to the police the same night.
“There is a case in opposition to Kamal Ahmed and Sadek Ahmed for their alleged involvement in an incident of violence on 4 August. They were arrested in this case and are scheduled to be introduced in court docket this day (8 September),” stated Tajul Islam, the officer-in-price of Jaintiapur police situation.
In the period in-between, sources at BGB stated Kamal and Sadek tried to wing, realising the presence of the BGB. Nonetheless they were pursued and apprehended by the patrol crew.
At some level of the arrest, two Bangladeshi passports, Rs14,200, Tk4,000, three cell telephones, and their national ID playing cards were seized from Kamal and Sadek.
