ACC to investigate Salman, ex-IFIC Bank MD over alleged embezzlement of Tk1,907cr

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to compare allegations of Tk1,907 crore embezzlement towards frail IFIC Bank chairman Salman F Rahman and its frail managing director Shah Alam Sarwar.

ACC Director Commonplace Akhtar Hossain confirmed the resolution to newshounds this day (19 December).

He acknowledged the allegations win misuse of vitality, corruption, and irregularities in wrong mortgage disbursements, bypassing supreme procedures, to entities alongside with Blue Moon Trading Ltd, Axis Alternate Ltd, Everest Endeavor Ltd, Dazzling Construction and Engineering Ltd, Vista World Ltd, and Skymark World Ltd through IFIC Bank’s Gulshan and Famous branches.

Akhtar acknowledged, “The ACC has initiated this investigation per findings from a Bangladesh Bank advise by the Department of Offsite Supervision. The advise detailed the irregularities captivating every Salman F Rahman and Shah Alam Sarwar.

“The commission has decided to ship the allegations to the ACC’s director (money laundering) for additional inquiry, as per directions from its banking division,” he added.

Earlier on 22 August, ACC decided to initiate an investigation into Salman F Rahman, moreover frail Beximco Neighborhood vice chairman, over a spread of allegations, alongside with smuggling Tk36,000cr in another country by taking loans from banks, embezzlement, illegally gathering wealth, half market fraud, and others.
