Abida Sultana has been elected as the new president of the Chittagong Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CWCCI) for a two-year term.
The election for the Board of Directors took place on Saturday (30 November) at the CWCCI office following the expiration of the previous board’s term.
The newly elected leadership includes Dr Munal Mahbub and Lutmila Farid as senior vice-presidents, along with and Nishat Imran, Seema Khatun, Sultana Nurjahan Rozi, and Shamim Morshed as vice-presidents.
The Board of Directors also features a diverse group of professionals, including Gulshana Ali, Sabera Sarwar Neena, Roksana Akhtar Chowdhury Ruhi Mostafa, Rekha Alam, Jasmine Akhtar, Ayesha Farha Chowdhury, Kazi Tuhina Akhtar, Savina Ikram Siraji, Noor Akhtar Jahan, Nasrin Sultana Chowdhury, Nujhat Nueri Kristi, Baby Hasan, Syeda Kamrun Nahar, Akalima Akhtar, Amena Shaheen, Mehruba Mahbub, Sarist Binte Noor, Chowdhury Zubairah Saki, Rahanuma Maryam, and Subarna Dey.
The election process was conducted under the supervision of a three-member Election Management Board, formed by the Department of Environment on 17 October.
The Board was chaired by Chittagong Director (Deputy Secretary) Nasim Farhana Shireen, with Nazim Hasan Sattar, general manager of SME Foundation, and Bangladesh Bank’s Chittagong Assistant Director Mohammad Atiq Zafar serving as assistant election commissioners.
The election schedule was officially announced on 22 October by the Election Commission of CWCCI.
