Bangladesh imported 6,520.21 metric tonnes (MT) of rice from India by Bhomra Land Port in Satkhira over the previous eight days that authorities hope would abet stabilise the country’s rice market.
The import began on 13 November after the withdrawal of customs responsibilities on rice imports by the Nationwide Board of Income (NBR).
Based totally on sources on the port authority, after the duty withdrawal, 12 companies authorized by the Ministry of Meals began importing by Bhomra.

Abu Musa, frequent secretary of Bhomra Customs C&F Agents Affiliation, acknowledged the Indian authorities had imposed a ban on rice exports to Bangladesh on 20 July 2023.
