54 citizens condemn anti-Bangladesh propaganda, call for upholding national unity

Fifty-four citizens have denounced the anti-Bangladesh propaganda being spread by certain India media outlets.

In a statement on today (12 December), the signatories said the Indian government’s sheltering of a fallen dictator has been accompanied by an unprecedented wave of anti-Bangladesh propaganda from certain Indian media outlets.

“These [Indian] outlets have been fabricating stories about an alleged crackdown on the Hindu minority in Bangladesh. Recent investigations have revealed that such reports are either entirely false or deliberately misleading,” reads the statement.

It said, “After decades of dictatorship, our nation is rebuilding its democracy. We must unite against the Indian media’s propaganda targeting our people.”

The signatories urged everyone to unite against anti-Bangladesh propaganda and protect our diverse and democratic nation.

The signatories include renowned photographer Shahidul Alam, Prof Dr Mostafa Nazmul Mansur of Jahangirnagar University, lyricist and activist Latifur Rahman Shibli, writer and professor Sumon Rahman, economist and writer Zia Hasan and political analyst and The Mirror Asia Editor Dr Maruf Mallik.
