44 Teesta barrage gates opened as river swells

The Water Construction Board (WDB) opened all 44 gates of Teesta Barrage because the water stage of the Teesta River has elevated attributable to an onrush of upstream water and torrential rains, inundating the low-lying areas in Lalmonirhat district.

The local Water Construction Board recorded 51.83 cm of water waft at Teesta Barrage point on Friday afternoon.

Mohammad Rashedin, deputy engineer of Water Construction Board (WDB) Dalia point, stated the Teesta used to be flowing below the risk stage however attributable to the upward thrust in water stage, all 44 barrage gates were opened.
