At least 40 houses were gutted in the fire at Gazipu’s Kaliakoir workers’ colony today (23 September).
“Four units of firefighters rushed to the Mouchak Ambagan area and brought the fire under control around 8:15pm,” Abdullah Al Arefin, deputy director of Gazipur Fire Service told The Business Standard.
“At least 40 houses were gutted in the fire. No casualties are being reported so far” he added.
The fire started at the colony at around 7:30pm.
This colony is home to a diverse population, including workers from various industries and low-income people from different backgrounds and professions.
