3 public representatives arrested in Cox’s Bazar

Law enforcers have arrested three current and former public representatives in connection with separate cases in Cox’s Bazar.

The arrestees are – Sahabuddin Sikder, councillor of Ward-5 of Cox’s Bazar municipality, Md Abdullah, chairman of PMkhali union, and Sirajdullah, former chairman of Uttar Dhurung union. 

Sahabuddin Sikder was arrested from his home yesterday (23 September) during an operation conducted by joint forces, Cox’s Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police Md Jasim Uddin Chowdhury told The Business Standard. 

Sahabuddin was arrested in connection with a case filed over the killing of a man named Ahsan Habib during the student-led mass protests in Cox’s Bazar’s Laldighi on 18 July. 

Abdullah was also arrested in connection with the same case this morning, Jasim said. 

On the other hand, Sirajdullah was arrested in possession of one single-barreled pistol and some domestic weapons. 

In this regard, the process of filing a case is ongoing at Kutubdia Police Station, the ASP said.
