Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) of Mongla South Zone arrested two Jubo League activists with arms and ammunitions from Mongla Port Pourasabha area in Bagerhat last night (24 September).
The arrested were identified as Saddam Hossain and Firoz Ahmed, both are the son of ex-councillor of Mongla Port Pourasabha Habibur Rahman.
“Acting on a tip-off, a joint operation was conducted by the BCG and Bangladesh Navy, raided in the house of Habibur Rahman and arrested his two sons,” Lieutenant Md Siam-ul-Haq, media officer of the Coast Guard headquarters, told The Business Standard today (25 September).
“During the raid, two illegal foreign-made arms, 38 rounds of ammunition, 2 blank cartridges, and Tk1 lakh in cash were recovered.
“Later, the arrested were handed over to the Mongla Port Police Station,” the officer added.
