11 CUET students suspended for six months over ragging allegations

The Chittagong University of Engineering and Abilities (CUET) has suspended 11 students for six months from all tutorial activities following allegations of ragging.

The choice became once launched the day gone by (11 December) by method of 11 separate notices signed by Md Mahbubul Alam, secretary of the students’ discipline committee and director of the coed welfare division.

The suspended students are from the Civil Engineering division of the 2022–23 tutorial year.

In response to the notices, the incident happened on 5 November, around 10:30pm, when several first-year students from the 2023 batch were allegedly stressed outside CUET’s main gate, plan Imam Ghazzali College. The disciplinary motion became once in step with the findings of an investigation committee formed to probe the incident.

The notices additional stated that the 278th meeting of the students’ discipline committee deemed such behaviour a violation of college regulations. Per the investigation file and subsequent hearings, the allegations against the 11 students were proven beyond doubt, ensuing in their suspension from all tutorial activities for six months.

Alternatively, as per Portion 22 of the college’s code of behavior, the suspended students can enchantment the choice to the Chairman of the Tutorial Council within 15 days.

Md. Saiful Islam, deputy director of the coed welfare division, stated, “After reviewing the investigation file and particular person hearings, we issued the suspension orders.
